Q: Is it a good sign if the status changes to With Editor and then Out for Review on the same day?
I recently submitted a manuscript to a Taylor and Francis (T&F) journal. After two weeks, the status became With Editor, and then, on the same day, it changed to Out for Review. Is this a good sign?
It may be that the Associate Editor (AE) had reviewed your manuscript earlier, but had just not updated the status. Once satisfied (that it met the initial criteria: novelty, quality, scope, and adherence to guidelines), they must have decided to send it for peer review and updated both the statuses together.
So, to answer your question, it is a good initial sign in that your manuscript has cleared the desk screening and has been sent for peer review. :) Now, you need to wait for the peer review outcome. For insights into that and for dealing with peer review comments, you may go through these articles:

Hope that helps. All the best for the next update/s on your manuscript!
