Q: Is the submission of data to Data in Brief mandatory?

Detailed Question -

While submitting to an Elsevier journal, I found instructions about submission to Data in Brief. Is the submission of the data mandatory?

Answer:

The journal Data in Brief publishes research data that is either publicly available through a repository or directly in your Data in Brief article. It is not mandatory to submit your data to the journal, though it is encouraged by the publisher as this makes your data “easy to find, citable, and easy to reproduce.”

You can decide if you would like to submit your data to this data journal. But remember that the data submitted to Data in Brief must be original and not published elsewhere, i.e., there should be no overlap between the tables and figures presented in your research article and the data article.
