Q: How and whom should I approach if the journal has not contacted me after acceptance?

Detailed Question -

With the help of Editage, My paper was accepted 1.5 month ago by an English international journal, and I submitted a cleared version with adding Acknowledgements etc. After that, I got a confirmation for the receipt of the cleared version with the message below:

“We hope to complete the production checks and export your article to the production team as soon as possible. The production team would get in touch with you regarding the author license agreement and proofreads in due course. We hope to publish your article on early view within 4 months.”

However, no contact by the production team was made as of now, which is 1.5 month after accept. Should I make a reminder or make an inquiry to confirm the current status? Or, should I wait for at least 4 months as mentioned on the email from the journal?

Answer:

Since the journal editor has mentioned that it will take at least 4 months for the paper to get published, it might be too early to send a reminder. I think you should wait for some more time before writing to the journal. I'm sure you will receive the page proofs and licensing agreement within a few more weeks. Wait for 2 more months, and if you do not receive any intimation from the production team by then, you can send in an inquiry to the editor.

In the email, mention your manuscript id, date of submission, and date of acceptance. Also, attach the email that you received from the journal editor and say that since it's been more than 3 months after acceptance, you were wondering by when you would receive the license agreement and page proofs.
