Interview with Euan Adie

In this interview series, Dr. Donald Samulack, President US Operations, Editage, Cactus Communications, talks to Euan Adie, CEO and Founder of Altmetric, which tracks online activity relating to scholarly literature. In these vignettes, Euan  talks in detail about Altmetric and how it measures research impact by capturing data about the various online locations where a published paper has been discussed or used. In addition, Dr. Samulack and Euan have an illuminating discussion on various aspects of research impact evaluation, including their views on the impact factor and how researchers from countries in Asia benefit from using Altmetrics. Previously, Euan was a product manager Digital Science and a senior product manager at Nature Publishing Group (NPG). Before joining the scientific publishing industry, Euan worked in academia studied psychiatric genetics as a bioinformatics researcher, which followed a degree in computer science and a co-founder role in a start-up supported by Edinburgh University's technology transfer office.
