Q: What does the status Editor Invited mean?
I submitted a manuscript to a journal. The status changed to reviewer assignment pending. Then after a week, the status changed to Editor invited. Could you please tell me what does this mean?
When a manuscript is submitted, it undergoes editorial assessment for checking the plagiarism and scope match. If the manuscript passes this editorial screening, further processing and correspondence is either handled by the technical staff or Editor-in-Chief. Thereafter, reviewers are assigned/invited for the manuscript, hence the status ‘reviewer assignment pending’ right after editorial screening.
Some journals also invite editors to handle the manuscript correspondence depending on the topic. This invited editor would play a critical role in deciding the fate of manuscript after the reviewers have submitted their comments.
Hope we have addressed your query. We wish you all the best!
