Q: What does the status "Under assessment" mean?
Detailed Question -
I had submitted a paper to a journal six months ago. Since then, the status was changed from "with the editor" to "under review." Recently, a week ago, it changed to "Under assessment". I am not sure what the status mean. Could you please clarify the same?
1 Answer to this question
Answer:
Possibly this means that the completed reviews have come in and the editor is evaluating your manuscript based on the reviews. Once his assessment is done, he will either take a final decision, in which case, the status will change to "Decision in process," or he might wish to send the manuscript for an additional review, in which case, the status will change to "under review" once again.
