Q: What does "under review" after minor revisions indicate?

Detailed Question -

I received a minor revision with two comments. I completed and uploaded the revised anuscript, but the status is showing "under review" for a week. Does this mean the manuscript will be returned to reviewers or the editor is looking for new reviewers?

1 Answer to this question
Answer:

Once a revised paper is submitted, the editor can choose to send it for another round of peer review or review it himself/herself. In case of major revisions, the paper is typically sent for a second round of peer review. however, for minor revisions, the editor often does not feel the need to send the paper to external reviewers again. In your case, since there were only two comments, it is possible that the decision will be taken internally and the paper will not be sent for review. This might take a while, particularly since it is the holiday season. It's best that you wait till mid-January and write to the editor if the status does not change by then.
