Q: What should I do if the submission status on Editorial Manager remains 'Editor Assigned' for four weeks?
I submitted my article to one of Springer's journals through Editorial Manager. 10 days after submission, the status changed to ‘Editor Assigned.’ Now, four weeks are gone, but the status has remained unchanged.
So, your manuscript was assigned an Associate Editor (AE) fairly quickly (given that this is a Springer journal), but the AE seems to be busy (again, because this is a Springer journal). Four weeks is a fair bit of time. So, it’s equally fair that you are concerned about the movement on your manuscript and are wondering: what next?
You could drop them a mail requesting an update on the status. Based on their response, you’ll need what your next steps need to be. For now, from our side, here are some relevant resources that you may go through:
- What does the status "Editor Assigned" indicate?
- Why is the status of my paper showing "Editor Assigned" for more than a month?
- A guide to understanding journal statuses [Handbook]
Hope that helps.
