Q: Why has my paper not been published for more than 1 month after acceptance?

Detailed Question -

My paper was accepted and proofread, but it has not been published online for more than 1 month. Should I contact the editor and inquire about this matter? Can you please share a sample email for writing to the journal?

Answer:

Congratulations on the acceptance of your manuscript!

After a manuscript is accepted, it undergoes copy editing and production so as to prepare it for publication. After copy-editing, the proofs are sent to the author(s) for checking factual accuracies and typographical errors. Once the manuscript has been proofread, the manuscript is ready for publication.

Since the proofreading has been done for your manuscript, everything from your end has been done and now you only need to wait for the next issue of the journal. Please find out when the next issue of the journal will be published. It is possible that your paper may not get published in the upcoming issue since there may be articles lined up for publication already. In that case, the journal will publish your article in the subsequent issue. However, it is best to write an inquiry to the journal editor to get a clearer picture.

You can use the following template to frame your inquiry email:

Dear Mr./Ms. XXX [Editor's Name],

My manuscript titled XXXX [manuscript id: xxxx] was accepted for publication at your journal on dd/mm/yyyy [date of acceptance]. I have submitted the corrected page proofs on dd/mm/yyyy [date of submission of proofs].

I would be grateful if you could let me know when I can expect my article to be published online.

Sincerely,

XXXX [Your name and contact details]
