Q: Why has the status of my manuscript changed from "Under review" to "Submitted?"
I have a question about the status of my manuscript.
I submitted a manuscript to a Wiley journal, and the status became “Under Review” after some days. One week later, howevee, I found that the status has changed to “Submitted”. I did not receive any intimation from the editorial office about my manuscript not meeting the journal's guidelines. Also, two editorial offices are shown, though it should be only one office usually. What does it mean? Please advise about this status, as I have no experience with such situation before.
Usually the status "Under review" indicates that the paper has cleared the admin check and it has been sent to the external peer reviewer or in-house section editor. In your case, probably the reviewer or the section editor has declined the request after initial acceptance or has returned the manuscript without reviewing, which has changed the status to the previous one.
In such a scenario, the editorial board would send the manuscript to other peer reviewers or assign a different section editor. If the status does not change soon, you should send a status inquiry to the editorial office.
