Q: Is it possible to correct an error in my manuscript after the page proofs have been sent back?

Detailed Question -

Hi, I submitted my page proofs yesterday (26th Nov.), but I am surprised to find that the abscissa range in one of the figures is wrong which is different from the original version I submitted. This may have happened by mistake when I revised the manuscript. How can I fix this error? I'm quite in panic now, hope to receive your reply soon. I'm an Editage client. I have been always trusting your sevice. This submission is also from your effort. Please help me. Thanks!

Answer:

Journals generally do not consider any revisions after the galley proof stage as revisions to material that has already been typeset can be expensive. However, most journals make allowances in case of serious errors. You should write immediately to the journal editorial office regarding this. Explain how the mistake occurred and why it is important to get it corrected. Hopefully, the editor will agree to make the change.

If the editor does not agree to make a change at this stage, you can request him/her to publish an erratum regarding this in the subsequent issue.
