Q: What should I do if my paper has been Under Review for 25 days?
I see 'Under Review' as the status of my manuscript. This has been so since August 12. I submitted on June 28. The journal's stated first decision time is 56 days, but as of today, 69 days are up. What should I do?
A manuscript being Under Review for 25 days is not extraordinary; in fact, it’s quite the norm. However, if the journal has explicitly mentioned that it will provide a first decision within two months, we can understand your concern. Of course, there may be some challenges on the journal side, such as number of manuscripts in process and availability of reviewers.
Anyhow, if you haven’t written to them yet seeking an update, you may do so. If needed, you may include a reason for seeking the outcome soon. For that, you may find this handbook helpful (especially Sections 6 and 7, in your situation): Communicating with the journal (Templates)
Hope that helps. All the best for a speedy first decision!
