Q: Should I get my paper professionally edited if I have received minor revisions?
My manuscript recived a minor revisions decision, and the comment of the one of the reviewers was as follows: “It is a nice clinical study with great design and solid analysis. Actually, I have nothing to add. This work should be acceptable pending English editing”. Considering this comment, should I ask for the professional editing or should I just check the grammar and spelling etc. by myself? The decision was minor revision, so I think it would not be good if the English of the manuscript is changed drastically.
While I agree that the overall content or focus should not be changed due to editing, please note that journals do take English editing for grammar and flow of the matter seriously since it affects the quality of their publication. I am unsure as to how much of revision is needed - whether it is only for grammar and misspelling or if it is more than that. You may check this and take the next step.
Usually, the editorial team will contact you for polishing the language and some journals have their own services for English editing. Depending up on the extent of revisions for English language, you may contact a professional who would be able to help you. Editage also offers Editing services; please feel free to contact https://www.editage.com/ if need be.
